Bip’s 5 Office Gadgets of The Week

Submitted by BIP Team on September 26, 2010 – 8:28 pm |

-No matter where you work, who you work with or what you do, one thing we can all agree on is that gadgets are the perfect accompaniment to any office. Some are useful, some are innovative and others are downright procrastination-heavy fun. Here at Bip, we’ll talk you through all manner of devices that have tickled our collective fancy this week.

P&P Office Waste Paper Processor
Price: TBC

This gadget ticks all of the boxes, not only is it sleek and innovative but it also boats some sound eco credentials, making it green and easily justifiable as an office necessity.

Replacing your shredder as the place of choice for your unwanted paper, the LITE-ON award winning design transforms old memos into one thing you can never get enough of, pencils.

The only restriction on your way to becoming a recycling-friendly business is that the processor requires you to supply your own pencil lead and glue. Still in the concept stage, it shouldn’t be too long before you’re stocking up on lead and offering recycled pencils as novelty Christmas presents.

Star Wars Mimobots
Price: £24.99

Finally a portable storage solution for all devout followers of the Jedi religion (there’s bound to be at least two in every office), the Star Wars Mimobots have 2GB of memory, perfect for storing debates of Who Shot First, Death Star plans and whatnot.

The USBs stand 2” tall and include four of your favourite characters (yet sadly no Gold Bikini Princess Leia). Each comes preloaded with exclusive Star Wars content (wallpapers, avatars and videos) and includes Han/Luke Stormtrooper variants.

Henry Desktop Vacuum
Price: £7-10

For everyone using an untidy desk as an excuse for not meeting deadlines and extreme procrastination, mini Henry the Hoover is here to save the day. Designed to banish particles, dust and fluff from in between your keyboard and to look indecently cute in the process, your laptop will be sparkling clean and work-ready.

For those looking for a lovely cleaning lady, Hetty the Hoover (Henry’s on-off again girlfriend) is also available in pink.

Note: Extreme procrastination may occur from too much desk-cleaning.

Refresh Charging Station
Price: £69.99

A useful solution to those of us who have a mini infantry of tech at all times, the Refresh Charging Station helps de-clutter your desk and charges everything at once, ensuring that you’re never left without power at work or at home.

Instead of bringing chargers wherever you go or having a stream of wires running across your desk, the station boasts six hidden universal connectors- two full-sized USB sockets, a MiniUSB, MicroUSB and two Iphone/Ipod chargers- making it virtually compatible with most devices and a pretty addition to any surface.

The only downside is that those with older phones may struggle finding a connection, if your model isn’t too ancient then you should be fine.

Cloak iPad Case
Price: £49.99

The latest of Apple’s products to attempt world-domination, the iPad is proving to be the marmite of the tech world. But love it or hate it, one of the most annoying prospects for owners is seeing that lovely and expensive screen scratched to pieces.

There are a couple of covers out there, from the professional to the kooky but the Cloak manages to go one step further than just protecting your iPad and allows an easy solution for desktop-use. The non-stick rubber case allows landscape and portrait viewing, with hinges that allow you to use it at literally any angle you want.

The adverts may show all manner of happy people using it on their knees, but try presenting information at a conference without a tool like the Cloak and you may resort to clumsily propping it up and watching it fall slow-motion style to the desk.
