One of Europe’s largest independent stamping and presswork specialists is heading to electronica next week (8th-11th) with a new innovation for the electronics sector.

Brandauer, which is located in a state-of-the-art factory in Birmingham, will be showcasing EloPin® press-fit for the first time, technology that allows the solderless connection of terminal pins to a PCB.

The company, the only UK manufacturer of this range of press-fit pins, has partnered with developers TSB Sorig and is expecting to produce millions of components every year for customers involved in automotive electronics and those looking for increased efficiency and robustness in interconnects.

“Demand for this innovation is expected to be huge and electronica is the perfect platform to launch it to the market,” explained Brandauer CEO, Rowan Crozier.

“The ‘needle eye’ technology lends itself to automation and offers greater efficiency and we can adapt the press-fit compliance pin to suit customer’s bespoke requirements. This is where our Special Product Division comes into its own and we can manufacture a prototype push fit terminal in just 15 days.”

He continued: “We are looking to secure £1m of sales for EloPin® in the first year and that will be a fantastic achievement for our first new product in almost three decades.”

Brandauer has been stamping press-fit components for over 20 years and has continually invested in world class production facilities.

Its full service supplier capability includes bespoke VISI VERO CAD software, standardised in-house tooling with rapid lead times and access to approved copper alloy material suppliers.

Furthermore, these essential services are coupled with a process flexibility that includes vertical/horizontal de-coiling/recoiling and a quick turn selective plating.

In addition to EloPin®, Brandauer will also be promoting its expertise in progression tooling, laminations and presswork.

Rowan concluded: “There has been a lot of uncertainty after Brexit, but we remain confident that investment in solderless terminal pin capabilities is vital to navigate the economy that we find ourselves in.

“We currently export 75% of our £7m turnover and we want this to grow and the one way we can help deliver this expansion is being in control of our destiny through manufacturing and marketing our own products.

“EloPin® is the first of a multi-faceted approach to the development of our product offering and we look forward to considerably adding more to the range over the next eighteen months.”

Brandauer is also a founding member of the Manufacturing Assembly Network, a group of eight sub-contract manufacturers and a specialist engineering design house who work together to win new work.

The collective features Alucast, Barkley Plastics, Grove Design, KimberMills International, Mec Com, Muller Holdings, PP Control & Automation and SMT Developments.

You can visit the company at Hall B2, Booth 541 at electronica, Munich. For more information, please visit www.brandauer.co.uk or follow @cbrandauer on twitter.
