Business Owners Go Back to School…
DIGITAL marketing company announces a second year of its online marketing academy.
Over the past 12 months, Longton-based Digital Eyes Media have educated business owners on how digital marketing can help them to build their brand and grow their business. Following the success of the previous two academies, the next Digital Eyes Media Academy is due to start next month, on Thursday, October 23, at St James House in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Nikki Patel, co-owner of Digital Eyes Media, said: “From experience, we’ve found that most business owners like to play an active part in the online marketing of their business, but lack the skills and knowledge to manage it effectively.
“The academy is designed to educate them in how they can utilise the latest online marketing techniques in order to gain more clients. Each academy lasts for six months and the students attend monthly group learning sessions, gaining support in between through a private Facebook group. There’s also the option for additional one-to-one support.”
Each month the academy covers different subjects, such as how to create interest and generate more online leads from your website, and understanding which social media channel best suits your business. Other topics include SEO, blogging, Google analytics and Pay Per Click.
Business coach Susannah Simmons, from G-R-O-W, is one of the academy’s latest graduates. Susannah, from Alsager, enrolled on the six-month programme as a business start-up.
She said: “Starting a new business is expensive and I didn’t have the funds to be able to outsource my digital marketing. But equally, I needed support from the experts, so that I can prioritise where to invest my time and money for the greatest return. As a result of the academy I’ve got a much better understanding of who my target client is and how I can reach them.”
Mark Cliffe, owner of online training company Jortsler, completed the training programme and is now starting to see results.
He explained: “Most business owners understand how to market themselves through traditional methods, but are in need of direction with online marketing. We learnt two important truths; that we were missing a significant social media platform for our key demographic, and also what our competitors were using as their search key words.
“Since the academy we’ve improved our website massively, so that it’s a better experience for potential customers. We also re-wrote the copy for better readability and search optimisation. But the biggest change is that we’ve started recording video blogs. People now stay on the site longer, and we’re finally getting online enquiries.”
The academy costs from £67 per month, but businesses can apply for funding towards the cost of the course through the government’s Growth Voucher scheme.
Carl Barlow, co-owner of Digital Eyes Media explained “The growth vouchers can cover 50 per cent of the cost of the course, making the investment more affordable. It’s aimed at small firms and helps them to access professional advice so they can make the most of digital technology.”
