London Philharmonic’s new masterpiece: A new website…

Submitted by on October 17, 2013 – 8:14 am |

London Philharmonic OrchestraGlasgow and London based Alienation Digital has helped to create London Philharmonic Orchestra’s latest masterpiece: a stunning new responsive website.

Recognised as one of the world’s finest orchestras, the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) has been entertaining audiences since its inception in 1932. The LPO is home to world-class performances, an impressive portfolio of Hollywood soundtracks and its very own successful record label. The orchestra wished to create an online space that reflected its international reputation and forward-thinking philosophy.

Following a competitive tender the London Philharmonic Orchestra selected Alienation Digital to develop an innovative, mobile-first website that efficiently integrated with its online ticketing system, Tessitura.

Alienation began with an in-depth analysis of organisational objectives and user journeys, mapping out the most intuitive conversion paths to create a bold new responsive web design that encouraged engagement, donations and ticket purchases. Following a thorough wireframing and analysis process, design concepts were drawn up that aligned with the LPO’s existing brand guidelines and responded to the organisation’s end-user needs.

The new responsive web design has been developed to ensure advanced functionality and a strong emphasis on cross-device accessibility; allowing the new website to be accessed across a number of platforms. Alienation development team integrated the new site with the Tessitura ticketing system and CRM used by the LPO. Implementation of Alienation Tessitura Bridge allows the LPO to benefit from a number of key features of the custom Bridge product, including synchronised content uploads, dynamic seating plan generation, multiple venue management, flexible pricing structures, and multi-language capabilities.

This integration will provide the LPO with increased administrative control and real-time data on online purchases, conversion tracking and customer information.

Launching to positive user feedback, the site will support the LPO’s on-going expansion and increase the organisation’s capacity to promote concerts, interact with its users, sell tickets and merchandise online.

Alienation is delighted to have produced this bold website for the LPO and continue this productive partnership, which will be instrumental (pun intended) to the LPO as it continues to push the boundaries of digital innovation in the arts.

Alison Atkinson, Digital Projects Manager, said; “We’re delighted to have launched our new website with Alienation Digital at the start of our 2013-14 concert season.   As well as a fresh new look and structure, it’s the responsive design and the full integration with our new box office system that really makes the site exciting for us as an organisation.  We’re looking forward to being able to give our audiences and global community a much better web experience of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and are continuing to work with Alienation on additional features.”
