YouGov study: SMEs in the Midlands are the most determined to grow their business…

Submitted by on January 30, 2015 – 7:15 am |

First Data Merchant Solutions (FDMS) First Data Merchant Solutions (FDMS) has released a YouGov poll that reveals how SMEs in the Midlands are most determined to grow their businesses, despite the struggles they face. Although the study showed that 35% of small business owners found running a company more challenging than expected, this has not deterred them from wanting to grow and better their businesses.

It has been found that within the SME community in the Midlands:

o    35% of small business owners found running a business more challenging than expected

o    57% of owners began their business because they wanted to be in control

o    If given an extra hour in the day, 36% of small business owners in the Midlands would spend this time identifying ways to grow their business, more than any other area in the county questioned

o    16% would spend more time on understanding their customers’ needs better, if given the time

So, whilst small business owners in the Midlands face the struggles that all SME’s across the country do, they have proven to be the most determined in expanding their businesses and understanding their customers.
