Coventry University Engineering & Computing BuildingCoventry University’s Faculty of Engineering and Computing is opening its doors to business.

The Faculty will be hosting its first annual open day for business – Intrigue 2013 – from 2pm to 6pm on Wednesday 20 March 2013. This free event will take place in the Faculty’s new home, the £55 million Engineering and Computing Building, which Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal officially opened in February.

Intrigue 2013 provides an opportunity for members of the business community to converse with the Faculty’s world leading research specialists, experience a taste of its professional development courses and benefit from 1-2-1 sessions with the Faculty’s consultancy experts.

The Faculty of Engineering and Computing boasts an academic resource of over 300 experts in disciplines ranging from manufacturing techniques to software analysis and design. Intrigue 2013 offers visitors the chance to meet with the Faculty’s academics to discuss how they can apply their expertise to meet the needs of business.

In addition, visitors will be invited to take a tour of the new Engineering and Computing building, including its High Performance Engineering Centre and Centre for Sustainable Buildings.

Coventry University is widely recognised as place of learning with a sharp business focus – it won the 2011 Times Higher Education Entrepreneurial University of the Year Award – and Intrigue 2013 is testimony to its continuing efforts to develop strong links between academia and commerce.

The state-of-the-art Engineering and Computing Building, which houses the latest in high tech teaching equipment, is central to this philosophy and has been purposefully designed to facilitate joint research activities and development projects with industry.

Current research projects will feature in a special exhibition at Intrigue 2013 and visitors will be able to meet with the people behind these projects to find out how their skills can help in the business environment.

Coventry University Commercial Director, Mike Dickison, said:

“Coventry University has a well earned reputation for working with business and we look forward to growing relationships with industry in the future.”

“Our fantastic Engineering and Computing Building, which combines cutting edge equipment with imaginative use of space, is the ideal setting for entrepreneurial research and innovation.”

“Intrigue 2013 provides a snapshot of the business centred opportunities, facilities and support services which the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at Coventry University offers.”

Intrigue 2013 takes place from 2pm to 6pm on Wednesday 20 March 2013 at the Engineering and Computing Building, Coventry University, Gulson Road, Coventry CV1 2JH. Attendance is free but places must be booked in advance by registering at www.eventsforce.net/intrigue2013.
